2024 - June 23rd Full Colour Workshop
About the day:
10:00 Arrival and greeting in the Barn/ Studio space. We have plenty of on site parking but please know the driveway is gravel and this is a working farm.
Attire: We will be exploring the property so please wear comfortable and stable shoes for walking on unsteady ground. If it has been wet you might want to pack a pair of rubber boots to keep your feet dry and a pair of runners for the barn area while we work. Wear some light layers and a coat that can see a bit of mud, depending on where the crops are planted we may be heading up and down some smaller hills.
Gathering with discussion on:
creating a design plan
composition
goal flowers
harvesting and discard practice
off farm foraging practice
successful floral transport
10:20 We head out together to find our florals! We will explore the farms offerings and give thanks for the bounty and season with our mind on the turning leaves and the first frost impending.
11:20 Small break for hydration
11:30 Step by step instruction and construction of the art creation and elements of the process:
We will together (in real time) go through the process of creating our pieces at the same time, learning from one another. We will
explore our tools
explore mark making
discuss layering
learn about our materials
go over safety and storage of material
create our base work
All in an educated methodical but creatively free way. You will be lead to create your own composition from your heart. You will learn how to let the flowers speak and how to manipulate them to create the feeling you are trying to capture.
12:30 Lunch Break
1:15 - 3:00 We learn and apply the colour portion of our work. Using natural paints and flowing movement we will build layers of colour to convey the emotion and environment our hearts desire.
*this is a loose outline dependent on weather and the natural speed of sharing knowledge.
price includes tax - no shipping required!
